I’m going to be visiting inland rainforests on the third weekend of September to participate in the annual Sicamous Fungi Festival so I thought I’d do a group hike after the festival in Revelstoke.

Just above the town of Revelstoke, you have one of the greatest natural wonders in British Columbia, which is the Meadows In The Sky in Mount Revelstoke National Park.

This area has thick forests of cedar and hemlock, spruce and fir as well as some of the best subalpine wildflower meadows in the world. It also has some of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Canada.

Just like the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park, 90% of people who visit Mount Revelstoke National Park don’t make it 10 minutes from a viewpoint or roadside pullout so the Meadows In The Sky has great hiking trails without any crowds.

On this day hike, we will visit the most beautiful lakes in Mount Revelstoke National Park on a group hike that will take about 7-8 hours with lots of mindful breaks to visit Miller Lake, Eva Lake and the Jade Lakes.

This is a challenging hike so bear spray and lots of experience hiking in the mountains is required to participate. Here are the hike statistics covering the local classic Eva and Miller Lake hike along with the extra to the Jade Lakes:

Length: 24.3 km
Elevation gain: 1,223 m
Time: 7 – 8 hours

There are also a number of panoramic viewpoints and beautiful lakes such as Balsam Lake, Eagle Lake and Heather Lake along the Meadows In The Sky Parkway Scenic Drive. I also highly recommend visiting the spectacular Giant Cedars Boardwalk Trail in the valley if you love ancient old-growth rainforests.

We will start this mindful hike with a group meditation on the summit of Mount Revelstoke looking over the spectacular river valley from flows through the town of Revelstoke. This is a place of awe and wonder that will take your breath away.

This group hike will be happening on Monday, 23rd, 2024 at 10 am. To participate in this free mindful hike download the free Seek and iNaturalist apps so you can identify the wild plants and mushrooms you discover along the path.

Please RSVP for this free hiking event in the Banff And Canmore Hiking Community group.
