Experience The Magic And Mystery Of Tepoztlán
Just over an hour south of Mexico City you will find Tepoztlán, a beautiful town that sits in a spectacular valley at 1,700 meters (5,500 ft) surrounded by remarkable geological forms including three massifs that form a triangle.
It has been a sacred pilgrimage site for 1000s of years and the sacred valley of Tepoztlán is renowned as a centre for Mexico’s ancient magical and mystical traditions.
According to legend, it’s reputed birthplace of the man who became the feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl, the most important Toltec and Aztec hero, sky and creator God.
Quetzalcoatl is considered a man, a deity, a priest and a myth and it was here in Tepoztlán that legend says he underwent his inner transformation and began his sacred journey to become a great teacher.
This makes Tepoztlán the ideal place for our fall mindful nature retreat exploring mindful awareness, experiential learning and community building practices for creating a regenerative future where we live in harmony with nature again.

Explore the natural world from the animistic perspective of being part of an sacred interconnected web of life and relationally so you can easily shift out of analytical thinking into the “felt presence” of your immediate experience.

The Retreat Agenda
Tepoztlán Magic Retreat Agenda:
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 29th
Welcome Dinner, Dream Herbs And Guided Yoga Nidra
We will start with a 7:30 PM group dinner where will learn about the trance-inducing plants and fungi that are used in traditional Mexican herbalism for dream invocation and improving sleep.
Afterwards, you will get a chance try some dream herbs and then be lead through relaxing breathwork and a Yoga Nidra visualization practice to set clear intentions for this mindful hiking retreat experience.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 30th
El Tepozteco Hike And Cerro De La Luz Sunset
We will start the day with some Soma breathwork and then after breakfast we will climb the ancient pyramid of El Tepozteco on a mountain overlooking the valley of Tepoztlán.
After a delicious lunch, we learn about local flora, fauna and fungi from local teachers and explore how to identify and understand how important plants and mushrooms that grow in Central Mexico have shaped the indigenous cultures here.
For the sunset over Tepoztlán we will do the Cerro de la Luz hike to meditate as the sun sets over the valley of Tepoztlán.
In the evening, we will go for dinner in centre of Tepoztlán and explore the live music scene in the town.
SUNDAY DECEMBER 1ST
Huehuecoyotl Eco Village, Ocotitlan Hike, Poza de Quetzalcoatl And Temazcal
After some morning breathwork and breakfast, we will climb visit the Huehuecoyotl Eco Village and do the Ocotitlan West Loop hike overlooking the wild forested valleys north of Tepoztlán.
After lunch, we will visit the indigenous-run Temachtiani Ecotourism Center in Amatlán de Quetzalcóatl where we will a hike with an indigenous guide to learn about local culture and traditions and then swim in the Poza de Quetzalcoatl.
We will end the day with a sacred Temazcal ceremony and at 6 PM we will return to Mexico City together.
About The Accomodations
We will stay at beautiful hacienda just outside of Tepoztlán. There are shared rooms and private rooms available for retreat participants
The hacienda and surrounding gardens will be a transformative space and center of consciousness for the exploration of music, art, meditation and the experiences of presence nestled in a secluded forest setting.
The Cuisine And Herbs
Experience the traditional indigenous food of Mexico and it’s roots in the local landscape and history.

About The Location
Inexpensive flights are available from across Canada and the United States to Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport.
Tepoztlán is in a quiet and peaceful mountain area in the mountains to the south of Mexico City and surrounded by national parks.
It is a 1 hour and 30 minute drive from Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport. We will help you arrange transportation to the retreat centre after you sign up and confirm your flight itinerary.

What is the recommend fitness level for this hiking retreat?
We will hike for 4-5 hours each day and cover around 300 m – 500 m in total elevation gain, which is an intermediate level of hiking.
This retreat is recommend only for people who are in good fitness and regularly hike.
