The original name for the Canadian Rockies was the Shining Mountains because of the way the limestone peaks shine in the sun.
Known to indigenous First Nations as the “backbone of the world”, the Rockies were home to many different tribes and in Banff National Park alone 5 different tribes travelled through and traded with each other in the summer.
This documentary follows mountain guide, pilot and cinematographer Guy Clarkson on an ecological journey through the Rockies and talks about the sacred hunting grounds of the Blackfoot nations in the Rockies.
He flies over the wild heart of North America from Yellowstone National Park north to Banff and Jasper National Parks then onward to the Yukon Territories.
